ASATA 2010

I had the privelage of attentding the annual ASATA (assosiation of South African travel agents) this year held in Cape Town at the beautiful Crystal Towers Hotel & Spa. The awards evening was held at Pigalle restaurant where one of our own, Corporate Consultant Suzanne van Eeden walked away with this years award. Truly something to be very proud of as an individual , but also as an office for this achievement. On the photo from left-to-right, myself, our very proud MD, Marianne Strydom, and the winner, Suzanne van Eeden.

We had an amazing workshop by Nanette Ranger in March. We as Drakenstein Art Society organised the workshop that was held at the Breytenbach Centre in Wellington. I found it interesting, and the outcome surprising....every time. That is probably the joy of monoprinting....never knowing what the outcome could be. Very exciting and very daring... I attached photo's of two ways of doing monoprinting.

Pink Rose in Gouache

This is my first try using Gouache for a close-up of a rose. I have done several roses before, all in oil.
So it's trial and error. I am satisfied with the outcome, although there is much room for improvement.
I found the blending etc a bit difficult, and of course with water paints drying in seconds it takes a bit getting used to when you are used to oils. But still... not bad. I love the gouache colours, I think it's striking and colourful, enough to cheer up any bad day!
